Same place, different thing.

Friday evening was my last shift working instore for Domino's Pizza Broken Hill.
I've been struggling to manage even two shifts a week for a the past couple of months - a combination of pregnancy and fibromyalgia.

Just as I decided I'd had enough and needed to take some time off work completely, I was offered another exciting job for our store. Its mostly contacting people, and helping them to organise a fundraiser we offer called "Dough Raiser" where $1 from every pizza sold in a particular period goes to the organisation we are supporting for that time. Its a great way our store can contribute to the wider community of Broken Hill.

The job sounds quite fun and is very flexible, making it a God-send for me right now!! I've also started to 'grow' out of my work uniform, so I probably need to get something bigger. Its starting to affect a few of my wardrobe choices lately.

Meet my Chooks.

Cut-throat-Bitch or Amber. Everyone knows that white chooks are the mean ones, and Cut-Throat is happy to do her bit. She lays large white kind of pointy eggs.

Grizellda - named after one of the ugly stepsisters. Her eggs are lovely brown eggy shaped eggs.

Eustace is the Bantam Rooster. Since his arrival the girls have settled down a lot and the whole chook house has been a more pleasant place.

Another note about pregnancy

Attention to all Charities and Sponsorship funds.

Now is the time to wave a picture of a baby/child in my face, and tell me it needs rescuing. I'll cry and try to convince Andrew [who isn't full of pregnancy hormones] that we need to help it.

This will probably work for most pregnant women you approach, unless they are carrying a weapon. The presence of a weapon is a sign they're not feeling that gooey, but as long as you stay hidden they'll probably drop the weapon and melt into a puddle of goodwill in a few minutes.

Development

I was just reading in one of my "baby expert" websites that already the baby has the co-ordination required to touch it's head and control its hand movements.

The website authors have not met this child's parents. I'd be surprised if its able to tell its hand from its foot by the time its born, but you can rest assured this baby, at only 11.5 weeks is already convinced that everyone else is more stupid than it is. Poor deluded kid.

11 weeks and counting.

Today marks the 11th completed week of our pregnancy! Its almost the end of the risky, scary "will this work" time. As such it brings with it a great sense of relief. Of course, anything can happen at any time, but I love that the statistics are looking in my favour!! I've been getting poor quality sleep because I have to pee several times a night . Somehow, I don't know what it is [ok well mostly its b/c I need to pee] but I am ALWAYS awake at 3am, every single night. I tell you hormones do the strangest things! [One night it wasn't my body waking me, but the cat falling on my head, but thats a story for another day perhaps.]

The past week has been very full as we attempt to unpack our very full house. A complication to the process is that while this is a 2 bedroom house, one of the rooms looks like this:
Termites ate all the floor joists rendering the room completely unusable. We either need to spend Uncle Kevin's gift of $900 on a new floor, and get it done asap, or wait until CCI, the house's owners have the money to fix it. [Before anyone gets their knickers in a knot, we're not paying market value rent, phew!]
My short term solution, which Andrew is yet to agree with, is to put wooden pallets [of which we have an abundance] down on the ground to create at least a storage area until the floor is done.
I have more {good} things about our new house, including the chooks that I'd love to show you, however our old neighbour borrowed my camera over a week ago, and hasn't returned it. Grrr.

Home again.

To get back to Broken Hill, we caught Countrylink's Explorer service. We departed Penrith at 7:07am and sat for a very long time on the train. Due to ridiculous temperatures, like the 47 degrees celcius in Ivanhoe today, the train had to go slowly as the the tracks were too hot!! We were 1.5 hours late getting home making it a total trip time of 14hrs.

In the end it was kind of good that we were late because Ali who was going to meet us at the train forgot all about us for an hour or so, so she only had to wait 40 min.

We're meant to be moving house this week. Wish us luck!!

Meeting the family and Australia Day.

Andrew and I spent Australia Day with his parents Paul and Ellie. They kindly decided to show me some of Sydney seing as I have never really spent any time here. Just so that I would remember where I'm from, I made sure I wore my "I Heart Melbourne" shirt.
We made it down to Bondi Beach. It's clearly not the best beach for a chilled-out day, given that its so busy, but it is iconic so we stuck our toes in the sand. We ate our lunch there, Paul and Andrew illegally drinking beer in an alcohol free zone. They claimed not to have noticed the sign until later.  We saw one of the lifeguards from the TV show Bondi Rescue . I'm not sure how they get any life-guarding done with the cameras and people wanting pictures!!

The Saturday before Aust Day was a Schultz family day. All the brothers, their wives and kids were there, so I got to actually meet my new extended family. It was a VERY hot day 43 degrees [yes Melbourne, you're not the only ones who got hot] so after a while we kicked the kids out of the wading pool and stuck our feet in. A lifesaver!!!
